MLB: Houston Astros at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates weren’t able to capitalize on the rising star that was Andrew McCutchen. They didn’t win a championship and they didn’t cash in on his star value. It’s rare to get a second chance at that, but they might just have that with Gregory Polanco.

Polanco is a 24-year-old star for the Pirates, and they may get another shot at trying to play in and win a World Series. What they can’t do, is miss this opportunity once again.

More from around the National League Central:

  • With the postseason drawing near, the Chicago Cubs are trying to get all their ducks in a row and cover all their bases.
  • He was drafted as the number two overall pick in the 2016 draft, and with that came rather high expectations. Nick Senzel is exceeding those expectations.
  • Some good-ish news from an injury standpoint for the Cardinals: shortstop Aledmys Diaz took grounders and Matt Holliday got his cast removed.
  • Milwaukee has been really good at home since July 25. This week, they host the Pirates. When looking at the recent numbers, Milwaukee is even better at home when the face the Pirates.
