Ervin Santana cleared waivers Saturday afternoon:

While Santana would likely be an upgrade to any contending club’s starting rotation, the Twins might have to include cash in a deal given his current contract. Santana is making $13.5 million this season and is due the same amount the next two seasons.

Boston placed Andrew Benintendi on the disabled list.

Cleveland released reliever Tommy Hunter.
