Los Angeles hasn’t placed outfielder Yasiel Puig on trade waivers and as a result is not in a position to deal him before the waiver trade deadline, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Puig reportedly was drawing interest in advance of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, but the Dodgers opted not to move him. However, after acquiring Josh Reddick from the Athletics, the club optioned Puig to Triple-A.
The Dodgers could still place Puig on waivers, but it’s unlikely they move him this month. A deal this off-season is more likely, since Los Angeles wouldn’t be restricted to discussing a trade with one club.
Over 81 games with the Dodgers this season, Puig batted .260/.320/.386 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs.
More from around the National League West:
- San Francisco might be in need of relief help, but there is not necessarily room for Joe Nathan on the club’s 40-man roster.
- Colorado promoted shortstop prospect Stephen Cardullo.
- In his first season with the Diamondbacks, Jean Segura is having a dominant year and as a result might be considered for the Comeback Player of The Year award.
- Edwin Jackson has been OK since joining the Padres, but he continues to give up home runs routinely.
- Julio Urias was solid Saturday, but he still might need to learn how to be more aggressive.
