Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, who is currently with Triple-A Oklahoma City, has reportedly been claimed off waivers, according to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball.
Heyman reported that the Dodgers can try to work out a trade with the team that claimed him.
The Dodgers’ outfield is currently packed at the moment with Joc Pederson, Josh Reddick and Howie Kendrick. However, Puig is hitting .369/.414/.631 in a very hitter friendly Pacific Coast League.
Of course, how Puig does on the field may not be the biggest issue for the Dodgers at hand, especially with Puig’s Snapchat escapades in the PCL. That may be a bigger concern for the Dodgers, though Puig has said that his time in the minor leagues has been “humbling.”
The waivers Puig was placed on are revocable waivers, meaning that the Dodgers can pull him back at any time or work out a trade with the team that claimed him. It’s also possible they might just try to trade him in the offseason.
There’s currently no word on which team put in the claim for Puig or how many teams put in a claim for him, or if the deal will go through.
