2016 Front Office Confidence Ratings, Midseason Update

How confident are you in your team's front office after a busy trade deadline?

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Every so often, we take a moment to ask you how you think the front offices are doing around Major League Baseball by taking an online survey. This spring, 1900 of you responded and were understandably high on Jon Daniels of the Rangers, Dayton Moore of the Royals, the Giants combination of Brian Sabean and Bobby Evans, and the Cubs’ front office duo of Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer. The 2016 season has borne you out on three of those, and you can make a convincing argument that the Royals’ downfall has had more to do with injuries than with Dayton Moore’s decision making.

You were especially low on Dave Stewart of the Diamondbacks, Jeff Bridich of the Rockies, Terry Ryan of the Twins, and Mike Hill of the Marlins. Again, you went three for four, as the Marlins have surprised all of baseball by competing for the NL Wild Card, but the other three clubs have been dreadful and Ryan has been fired.

With the non-waiver MLB Trade Deadline now a week behind us, the dust has settled somewhat on the new landscape of Major League Baseball. The Giants, Dodgers, Cubs, Indians, and Rangers went all in after a division title. Meanwhile, the Yankees, Diamondbacks, and Rays all threw in the towel. And the Brewers, Reds, Twins and Padres continued their rebuilding efforts.

So it’s time to see if how your opinions have changed over the last three months. How do you feel about how the season has gone and the trade deadline went? Are you happy with the decisions your team’s front office has made? Are they in good hands? Is your club’s GM on the hot seat? And should he be?

The confidence ratings are on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest. I’ll be back next week to present you with the results, along with your comments about each GM. Take into account not only how your team has done, but how well they were put together and how well they have been positioned for next year and beyond by the brain trust in charge.
