It wasn’t a guarantee that Tommy La Stella would play for the Cubs again this season, or in 2017. He wasn’t afraid of being released, but is back with team and in better spirits.
La Stella left the team on July 29 because of questions over his passion for the game, not for a health or emotional reason. The 27-year-old was open and candid, saying that being able to talk to the team was a huge deal for him and he felt good be back around the team.
More from around the National League Central:
- The Brewers are on pace to set a record, and not the good kind. They struck out 19 times on Monday and 12 times on Tuesday. Houston set a new record for most strikeouts in a season with 1,535 in 2013. Milwaukee is on pace for 1,552.
- In a weird, bizarre piece of news, prospects for both the Tigers and Pirates were arrested after a bar brawl in Toledo.
- Adam Wainwright just turned 35. His battery mate is 34. Yet they are getting better with age, and even turning back the clock to their youth.
- For the Reds, their rebuild is focused on stockpiling young arms.
