St. Louis closer Swung-hwan Oh ended his 30th game of the season Friday, and as a result, his 2017 club option vested, according to Derrick Goold of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Oh will be paid $2.75 million next season, according to Goold.
The Cardinals’ closer has had success this season, pitching to a 1.87 ERA and 2.01 FIP over 72.1 innings. Oh has also recorded 17 saves.
Oh’s success this season has helped the Cardinals, who are competing for the second Wild Card spot in the National League. With Trevor Rosenthal struggling, Oh has proven to be valuable for St. Louis.
