AL Central Notes: Robin Ventura, Brian Dozier

The latest from around the American League Central.

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

The White Sox have expressed a desire to retain Robin Ventura as their manager for the 2017 season. The caveat to the story was that they want to retain him, if he wants to return. It’s a rather odd nugget to throw into a story.

It something that really isn’t easy to decipher on the surface, and a deeper look makes the picture more and more blurry. Jim Margalus of South Side Sox tried to break down all the angles for this one.

More from around the American League Central:

  • Brain Dozier has had quite the season. Yet, he is still stuck on 42 homers and 99 RBI’s, while he is the midst of a 1-for-30 downturn.
  • All those aboard the hype train? We might need to stop at the next station, because Raul Mondesi hasn’t been very good for the Royals.
  • On Thursday, a game between the Indians and Tigers was postponed due to rain. And that might have a major impact on the American League playoff race, and cause some chaos.
  • Buck Farmer is going to miss the chance to pitch at home in Turner Field. Some rain on Thursday has ruined that chance. He is still going to enjoy the trip back home.
