Good morning baseball fans!
The Mariners landed Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson on Friday afternoon:
Dyson is the second significant Royal to be traded this winter, joining Wade Davis as members of the club’s 2015 championship team to be shipped out of town. Dyson drew strong interest from many clubs, including the Athletics and Orioles, since the winter meetings and will likely assume full-time left field duties in Seattle.
Seattle acquired veteran starter Yovani Gallardo in exchange for outfielder Seth Smith.
The Dodgers have been linked to Brian Dozier, but it seems the Braves have also discussed the possibility of adding him.
Oakland is interested in free agent Trevor Plouffe:
Plouffe, 30, had a productive 2016 season while he was healthy, batting .260/.303/.420 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs over just 84 games. He was plagued by a series of injuries but has proven he can be a valuable power hitter with consistent playing time.
Chicago signed Geovany Soto to a minor league deal.
