Good morning baseball fans!
The Padres are seeking pitching help and are interested in Jake Peavy and Doug Fister:
San Diego signed Clayton Richard and Jhoulys Chacin to one-year deals in December, when the club was first rumored to be considering Weaver. However, it seems the Padres still want to add another arm before Spring Training begins.
Los Angeles signed Bobby Wilson to a minor league deal.
Milwaukee added some minor league catching depth Saturday:
Though the Marlins might not have a roster spot for Jose Urena, it’s unlikely they trade him, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.
The Dodgers signed reliever Steve Geltz to a minor league deal, according to Baseball America’s Matt Eddy.
Edwin Encarnacion’s contract includes some odd bonuses:
EE attendance bonuses: 150K for 2M, 2.15M, 2.3M, 2.5M, 2.75M, 250K for 3M. $1M max per year (regular year) #indians— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) January 7, 2017
It doesn’t seem the Braves have a good chance of adding Brian Dozier:
