ORLANDO — The Twins have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran reliever Fernando Rodney, a source confirmed to SB Nation. The deal is worth $4.5 million and can reach $6 million in incentives in 2018 and includes a club option for the same terms in 2019.

Rodney personally came to the winter meetings to meet with clubs this week and drew interest from the Rangers, Diamondbacks, Mets and Tigers. Minnesota has been looking for relief help all week on a very active market for veterans.

Rodney, who will be 41 in March, posted a 4.23 ERA and saved 39 games for Arizona last year. He had a disastrous April before settling in and pitching well for the rest of the year, including owning a 2.55 ERA and 11.3 K/9 in the second half.

Rodney will provide a back-end presence in a bullpen that currently includes Trevor Hildenberger, Taylor Rogers, Ryan Pressly, Alan Busenitz and Rule 5 pick Tyler Kinley for Minnesota. The club is expected to be active in its pursuit of bullpen arms after losing Brandon Kintzler and Matt Belisle in recent months.

Minnesota is also active on the starting pitching market, having signed Michael Pineda to a two-year deal earlier in the week. The Twins are involved in the bidding for high-end starters like Yu Darvish, as well.
