AL West Notes: Huston Street out with lat strain, Mariners leadoff spot

Here’s the latest from around the American League West.

Angels reliever Huston Street left his spring outing Friday and was diagnosed with a lat strain Saturday, according to Pedro Moura of The Los Angeles Times.

Street is unlikely to throw for up to four weeks and might not be ready for Opening Day as a result, according to Moura.

Street entered spring training competing for a spot in the Angels bullpen after struggling with the club last season. Over 22.1 innings with Los Angeles in 2015, he posted a 6.45 ERA and 6.41 FIP and was also plagued by injuries.

Here is the latest from around the American League West:

  • Rangers right-hander Andrew Cashner has been bothered by a biceps issue, but it isn’t expected to be serious.

  • One website suggests tickets get cheaper as the season progresses, which makes the later months of the year a great time to see Oakland’s debuting prospects.

  • Jarrod Dyson might be a candidate to leadoff for the Mariners, who haven’t received much production from the spot in the past.

  • It wouldn’t be wise for the Angels to trade Mike Trout, but that won’t stop people from talking about it.
