The Braves placed third baseman Adonis Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with Achilles’ tendinitis on Tuesday.
Garcia played in the series opener against the Blue Jays on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, but he was left out of the lineup on Tuesday and then sent to the DL.
Jace Peterson got the call at third base on Tuesday against right-hander Marco Estrada, though Emilio Bonifacio could also be an option at some point. Bonifacio was unavailable on Tuesday due to an illness that seems to be circulating the clubhouse.
Garcia has gotten off to a poor start this season, batting just .237/.278/.348 slash line with four home runs, 16 RBI, 15 runs, and three doubles. He’s never been one to draw a walk, with a career .302 on-base percentage.
