Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig suspended 1 game for obscene gesture

The outfielder appealed the suspension.

Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his obscene gesture during Tuesday’s game against Cleveland. Puig has appealed the suspension.

After hitting a home run in the top of the second inning, Puig gave a Mr. Met-style double bird to the fans in right field. It’s unclear what they said to deserve that response.

Puig, 26, is hitting .239 with 10 homers and 33 RBI in his fifth season with the Dodgers.
