Turner left the game after being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning of the Nationals 5-4 loss to the Cubs. In 68 games this season, the 23-year-old star was hitting .279/.324/.422 with seven home runs, 32 RBIs, 13 doubles, four triples, and 35 stolen bases.
The loss of Turner comes as a huge blow for a Nationals team that is already going to be without Adam Eaton for the remainder of the season. There is no timetable for his return, but Turner is expected to miss a significant amount of time with this injury.
In the meantime, the Nationals could look to Stephen Drew and Wilmer Difo to fill in for the injured Turner. Despite another blown save for the Nationals, the team sits comfortably in the NL East at a 47-32 record with a nine game lead over the second place Atlanta Braves.
