The Yankees are hot on the trail of Justin Bour this trade deadline season. The first baseman has slashed .286/.361/.914 so far this season and being one of the offensive crutches for the Marlins. It makes sense that New York would want this deal. The Yankees don’t have a permanent first baseman. Especially now with Greg Bird’s extended absence, it looks like they need to consider a stronger player on the corner than just the hodgepodge they’ve been using to get by. It also finally gives the Yankees a good reason to cut Carter for good, a move that many fans would enthusiastically agree with.
It’s not yet known what New York could be offering in exchange for the power hitting Marlin.
Here’s what else is happening in the National League East:
- Could Aaron Nola be the next great Phillie?
- Summer wardrobe just a bit lacking? Fear not. Get your Daniel Murphy #FWAHHH t-shirt right here, always be the coolest one at the BBQ.
- Since we know you’re at the edge of your seat, here’s how the Mets farm system is doing.
- Freddie Freeman got his career hit No. 1,000, which is one heck of a way to come back off of the DL.
- Thursday night’s game had one of the weirdest plays ever for the Phillies, so let’s all take a moment to relive it and relish the weirdness of baseball.
- The Nationals have reportedly signed 2017 first-round draft pick Seth Romero to a $2.8M deal.
- The Mets sign their first-round pick, David Peterson.
- Chris O’Grady made his debut as a Marlin and honestly, we’re pretty impressed.
- The Braves recall Akeel Morris and option Matt Wisler to Gwinnett.
- Now that the trade deadline is burning on the horizon, Philadelphia fans are bound to question, what is Tommy Joseph’s trade value?
- Three Nationals’ prospects land on Baseball America’s Midseason Top 100 list.
- Jeff Locke has been designated for assignment by the Marlins in a shockingly quick turn around, Drew Steckenrider has been recalled from Triple-A.
- Danny Santana will hit the 10-day disabled list with a bacterial infection.
