MLB trade rumors: Brewers, Rays, Yankees in mix for Phillies’ Pat Neshek

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Brewers, Rays and Yankees have joined the list of suitors for Phillies reliever Pat Neshek, sources told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

These three clubs join the Red Sox and the Nationals as teams interested in Neshek, who became an All-Star for the Phillies this year. The Red Sox took interest six days ago, while the Nationals put him on their list a month ago before acquiring Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson from the Athletics on Sunday.

However, Rosenthal said the talks are "fluid" and there is no "clear leader."

The 36-year-old Neshek has pitched incredibly well this year for Philadelphia, posting a 1.21 ERA with 40 strikeouts against five walks in 37 13 innings pitched. More importantly, what makes Neshek a great get for any contending team is that he is a free agent after this year and has an affordable contract.

The trade talks haven’t surprised Neshek, who is playing for his sixth team in his 11th season. Neshek played four seasons with the Twins, two apiece with the Astros and Athletics, and one apiece with the Padres and the Cardinals before coming to the Phillies. He has a career 2.78 ERA in 420 23 innings pitched.
