Dodgers lefty Grant Dayton will undergo Tommy John surgery. He sustained a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Dayton is no stranger to the disabled list this season, taking three separate trips. Twice he lost time for a neck strain and and the final for an intercostal strain. Yet, no issue with his elbow until now.
In his 23.2 innings with the Dodgers this season, Dayton pitched 4.94 ERA with 20 strikeouts. Even though he’ll miss the rest of this year and a portion of 2018, the Dodgers have yet to count him out as a potential source of pitching depth for next season.
