The Pirates announced on Tuesday afternoon that they had extended the contracts of general manager Neal Huntington and manager Clint Hurdle through the 2021 season.

Huntington, 48, began his duties as the GM in 2007, and he will continue his tenure as GM and Executive VP in Pittsburgh. Huntington took over a 2007 team that had amassed the most consecutive losing seasons in professional sports history, but he has had success of late.

Huntington took the Pirates to the postseason in 2013, 2014, and 2015 where they made it to the NLDS in 2013, and then lost in the Wild Card games in 2014 and 2015. His contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but he will look to build on the success he has enjoyed with the Pirates through the next four seasons.
