MLB trade rumors and news: Red Sox eliminate Yankees, setting Championship Series field

• All of this year’s division series were decided in four games or less, as the Red Sox finished off their ALDS victory over the Yankees on Monday night and advanced to the ALCS, joining the Astros, Dodgers, and Brewers as part of the Championship Series field.
• Winning 90 games with a roster full of rookies and reclamation projects is clearly a good way for a manager to earn a contract extension, as Kevin Cash proved when the Rays extended his deal through 2024 (with an option for 2025) on Monday.
• The Braves were eliminated on Monday as the Dodgers got a 6-2 win on the back of a 3-run homer from Manny Machado to secure the 3-1 series win.
• If you think the Braves are just a bunch of lucky prospects, you’re not paying close enough attention.
• Cubs shortstop Addison Russell will miss 40 games for violating MLB’s domestic violence policy.
• Erik Kratz wasn’t a name that one was looking to keep an eye on this postseason, but he has turned into one of the better stories during the 2018 playoffs.
