If you thought this year’s AL MVP race was going to be close, let me introduce you to the National League MVP race.
26-year old Yelich has been red hot all season, leading the NL in OPS (1.000), WAR (7.4), slugging percentage (.598), total bases (343). A tough act to follow, unless you’re Nolan Arenado, who let the entire National League in home runs with 38, and is fresh off of a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger win.
Oh, and lest we forget Matt Carpenter, with his 5.3 bWAR that’s tied for first among players and leading players with an OPS+ of 162.
Moral of the story: at this point, it’s anyone’s race. Who do you think could seal the deal for the MVP title?
