The MLB Daily Dish is a daily feature we’re running here at MLBDD that rounds up roster-impacting news, rumors, and analysis. Have feedback or have something that should be shared? Hit us up at @mlbdailydish on Twitter or @MLBDailyDish on Instagram.
- Five end of season awards as we head into the offseason, that are totally BBWA sanctioned and not something we made up twenty minutes ago so Bartolo could win something.
• Reds closer Raisel Iglesias has a lot of things to be thankful for, and one of them is a new three-year contract that he and Cincinnati just agreed Wednesday. The young star will make $24.125 million and will avoid arbitration in the process.
• The trade rumors for Noah Syndergaard are catching fire right now, as six teams are reportedly ‘real players’ for the Mets starter.
- It shouldn’t be a shock that the Rays are moving on from C.J. Cron, mostly because they’re the Rays.
- 39-year-old third baseman and likely future Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre called it a career on Tuesday after 21 big-league seasons. It wasn’t a surprise considering the on-field tributes in both Arlington and Seattle that Beltre participated in at the end of last season, but it’s still sad news for baseball fans everywhere. As our Eric Cole writes, the game just won’t be the same without the always-consistent hitter and skilled fielder who can’t stand having his head touched.
- The Hall of Fame ballot is out and we can already sense the internet fights that will erupt over this for a good, long time.
- According to a report from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Mariners and Padres have discussed a potential deal — one that doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense for either club — that would send infielder Jean Segura and pitcher Mike Leake to San Diego in exchange for man-without-a-position Wil Myers.
- The Red Sox found a potential low-cost bullpen contributor on Tuesday, acquiring 26-year-old righty reliever Colten Brewer from the Padres in exchange for minor-league infielder Esteban Quiroz.
- The Rocky Mountain Vibes have a cool team name with a cooler logo and give us every last bit of merch so we can be just as cool.
- With the J.T. Realmuto sweepstakes seemingly out of their reach since the Marlins won’t make a deal within their division because....reasons, the Nationals moved on and grabbed Kurt Suzuki off the free agent market on a two-year deal.
- The Philadelphia Phillies have several areas of need and a bunch of money to spend. Here is a look at what one can expect from them this offseason.
- Patrick Corbin might be the best pitcher on the market, and the Yankees are the likeliest fit. So sorry to like, basically everyone.
- The Rangers clearly are making a commitment to improving their defense behind the plate, as they’ve agreed to a two-year deal with catcher Jeff Mathis.
- The Blue Jays have acquired LHP Trent Thornton from the Astros in exchange for utility infielder Aledmys Diaz. It’s one of those nice deals that wraps everything up with a bow: the Blue Jays add to their pitching depth, the Astros find a potential Marwin Gonzalez replacement, and everyone goes home happy. Well, I guess we’ll see about that when the season starts.
- The glaring problems with the first basemen market: supply and demand are at the top of the list, as most teams fight to keep someone half way decent at the position.
- Using projections to help find Rule 5 standouts, because the Winter Meetings are soon approaching which means free, new players, rubs hands together.
- The Padres apparently think they can get Noah Syndergaard. In the immortal words of Cher from Clueless, “As if.”
- Nelson Cruz doesn’t have a lot of options in free agency.
- The women of SB Nation’s MLB team brands look back at the 2018 season.
- Cleveland will listen to offers for veteran players, and the internet has subsequently spiraled into a rabbit hole of “what ifs.”
- Winter is here...and with it, hot stove season. Here’s a look at the biggest free agents this offseason and what we might see go down when baseball hits the Winter Meetings in Vegas.
