• While so much attention this offseason is on free agents Manny Machado and Bryce Harper, there is one player who is garnering a ton of interest: starter Patrick Corbin. It is now to the point that the former Diamondbacks lefty starter may even get six-year contracts from future teams, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. One of those teams may be the Yankees, who Corbin will be meeting today in New York after having talked with the Nationals and Phillies during his free agency tour.

• The likelihood of the Rangers being competitive in 2019 is minimal, but Texas apparently isn’t going to completely abstain from free agency this winter like other bottom-feeding clubs have done in recent years. They’ve reportedly agreed to terms with right-handed swingman Jesse Chavez — who began 2018 in Texas before being traded to the Cubs at the deadline and becoming one of baseball’s most dominant bullpen arms down the stretch — on a two-year, $8 million deal.
