On the third day of the Winter Meetings, baseball gave me... a schedule full of press conferences with the best managers in the MLB, a trade show and so much more!
11:15 PM EST
After Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described his club’s amount of outfielders as a “plethora” earlier today, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that the Dodgers are actively shopping outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp. Although it would be big news if one of them is traded, it certainly would not come as a surprise, as Los Angeles has mentioned several times that they need to thin out their outfield.
The Los Angeles #Dodgers are actively shopping outfielders Matt Kemp & Yasiel Kemp in hopes of finding a trade partner, per @Feinsand. Manager Dave Roberts said earlier the club is working on thinning out their "plethora of outfielders" via trade in hopes of acquiring a catcher.

Negotiations between free agent reliever Adam Ottavino and both the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets are intensifying, per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. At the moment, the Red Sox and Mets are the front-runners for Ottavino.
#Mets and #RedSox showing continued interest in Adam Ottavino, sources say. @MLB @MLBNetwork

The Boston Red Sox and veteran outfielder Gorkys Hernandez have reached an agreement on a minor-league contract, per Boston Globe’s Alex Speier, who adds that Hernandez will earn $1M if he makes it to the majors.
Sources: The Red Sox have agreed to a minor league deal with 31-year-old OF Gorkys Hernandez. Hit .234/.285/.391 and played all 3 OF spots for the Giants in 142 games last year. He’d make a salary of $1M if in the big leagues.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indirectly discussed the J.T. Realmuto trade rumors by saying the Dodgers could use a new catcher, and they have a plethora of outfielders and pitchers they could trade.
#Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said 3 big things in his press conference that all link to J.T. Realmuto and the #Marlins.

- Said that the team had a plethora of pitchers & outfielders they could trade
7:30 PM EST
Per The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers have spent lots of time discussing trade scenarios. The two sides have discussed Los Angeles outfielder Yasiel Puig and Cincinnati pitcher Homer Bailey, among other players.
In one variation of this deal, #Dodgers would take back Homer Bailey from #Reds and his remaining $28M commitment as a way of buying prospects. Bailey’s CBT number (average annual salary in multi-year deal) is $17.5M. Deal complex, still in discussion, not close. https://t.co/y3yVs5Rpsf

Executives from the New York Mets and Miami Marlins said, regarding J.T. Realmuto, they are engaged with other teams and have discussed what is best for their own respective organizations, but could not say which teams they have talked to and which players they have discussed.
Reached out to a few sources w/ both the New York #Mets and Miami #Marlins regarding the J.T. Realmuto rumors, and they all echoed the same thing: they've been busy figuring out what's best for their organization but can't reveal teams they've talked with, players involved, etc.

3:00 PM EST
The Toronto Blue Jays announced they have released veteran shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who will still receive the $38M in guaranteed money he was owed over the next two seasons.
2:45 PM EST
The Philadelphia Phillies have made a splash in the free agent market by signing free agent outfielder Andrew McCutchen to a three-year, $50 million deal with a club option, per FanCred’s Jon Heyman and The Athletic’s Matt Gelb.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed RHP Jordan Lyles to a one-year deal, per Jon Heyman of FanCred and Chris Cotillo of MassLive.
2:15 PM EST
Bob Nightengale of USA Today hears that the Red Sox are looking to move some big contracts after having the highest payroll in baseball last season. A few names to watch are Rick Porcello, Mitch Moreland and Rusney Castillo.
The Boston Red Sox are looking to clear payroll space after having highest payroll last season, per @BNightengale. Biggest #RedSox contract that could realistically be moved is Rick Porcello. Rusney Castillo and Mitch Moreland have large contracts but may be hard to move. #MLB

It appears a J.A. Happ signing could be close. Yahoo’s Jeff Passan reports that Happ will accept the first reasonable three-year deal that he is offered.
Doesn't seem like it'll be long before J.A. Happ signs. Per @JeffPassan, Happ hasn't received any 3yr offers. But he'll accept the first reasonable 3-year deal that he is offered. (If offered none, he'll choose the best two-year deal. He has been offered several 2yr deals). #MLB

11:00 AM EST
The New York Yankees have had discussions with other teams regarding third baseman Miguel Andujar, rival executives tell The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray. If a three-team trade between the Yankees, Mets, and Marlins were to happen, Andujar could go to the Marlins, who are looking for a young third baseman. Trading Andujar would also open the door for a Manny Machado signing.
Name to watch with #Yankees: Miguel Andújar. Rival execs tell me and @ByRobertMurray NYY open to moving him. Would make sense as #Marlins’ ask for Realmuto; MIA wants established young MLB player as headliner. Also would line up with NYY pursuit of Machado. Torres could play SS.

9:30 AM EST
The New York Mets are in discussions with the Miami Marlins regarding a trade that would send star catcher J.T. Realmuto to the Big Apple. The Mets are considering several trade scenarios, including a three-team deal with the New York Yankees.
9:00 AM EST
Las Vegas is busy. The cowboy rodeo festival is in full swing. And the Winter Meetings, of course. Have a great Tuesday!
