The Orioles announced Monday that they have signed outfielder Alex Presley to a minor-league deal.

Presley, 32, hit .314/.354/.416 with three homers in 71 games for the Detroit last season but registered a -0.2 WAR for the lowly Tigers. Baltimore has been seeking a left-handed hitting outfielder this winter to serve as a depth option behind Adam Jones, Trey Mancini, Austin Hays and Mark Trumbo.

Presley is a veteran of eight major-league seasons with five different clubs, with his largest role coming at the early part of his career with Pittsburgh. He’s logged more than 80 games just once since 2013, serving as a part-time player in Minnesota, Houston, Milwaukee and Detroit since being traded from the Pirates to the Twins for Justin Morneau in August of 2013.
