In any other division, the Yankees would be sitting pretty with a very strong chance of winning the division. However, despite a 63-35 record, the team finds themselves six games behind the surging Boston Red Sox. The idea of having to play a one game playoff isn't appealing to any team, so winning the division is as important now as ever.
The Yankees are well-aware of this and have been active on the trade market. It looks like they will soon pull the trigger on a big move for a bullpen piece.
Double A RHP Dillon Tate, #Yankees’ No. 9 prospect per @MLBPipeline will indeed headline Britton deal with #Orioles if completed, per source. Fourth overall pick by TEX in 2015, traded to NYY for Carlos Beltran at 2017 deadline.

Zach Britton has long been available, but unfortunately moving him until now has been problematic due to injury. Since he has returned, Britton has posted a 3.45 ERA and 4.43 FIP in 16 appearances in 2018.
Due to the aforementioned injury history, Britton does not come without some risk. However, he is also among the more attractive relief options on the market and would add to the embarassment of riches atop the AL East right now.
