Earlier, we posted that the Phillies and Rays were really close to a deal that would send Wilson Ramos to Philadelphia. The Phillies were looking to upgrade at a couple of positions with catcher being among them.
Well, it appears that the Phillies were able to close the deal.

Ramos is a free agent after this year, so the return for the Rays isn’t likely to be particularly huge. Once the return for the trade is known, we will update this article. So far, this is all that is known.

As for the Phillies, they get a proven contributor behind the plate in Ramos who was an All-Star this year and has posted a slash line of .297/.346/.488 in 315 plate appearances in 2018 for Tampa. Catchers with real upside at the plate are a rare commodity, so the Phillies are extremely fortunate to get Ramos as they make a push for the NL East title and try to hold off the Braves and, possibly, the Nationals.
