MLB trade rumors and news: Trevor Bauer’s Cy Young-caliber season comes to a halt

• Trevor Bauer has broken out in a major way in 2018, raking second in the AL in innings pitched (166), third in ERA (2.22), and third in strikeouts (214), positioning himself as a prime AL Cy Young candidate. Unfortunately for Bauer, that candidacy — and his status for the rest of the season — is in serious jeopardy now that he’s been placed on the disabled list with a right fibula stress fracture.
• The return in last month’s trade that brought Chris Archer to Pittsburgh was already quite hefty, as former top prospects Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows went to the Rays. It became even bigger on Tuesday, as the Pirates sent right-handed pitching prospect Shane Baz — the No. 12 pick in last year’s draft — to the Rays to complete the deal.
