While the Nationals by far have the superior starting rotation with Steven Strasburg and Game One’s starter Patrick Corbin (who dominated the Nationals over seven scoreless innings when he last faced them in May), the Dodgers have the best staff ERA in the league. Both teams have explosive offenses, so expect this series to come down to a pitchers duel.
What gets the Nationals the upper hand (aside from the endorphins coming off of Juan Soto) is that the Dodgers haven’t played since Sunday. So while they came into the postseason hot, they’ve had too much time to simmer, giving the underdog Nationals the chance to get off to an early lead in this series.
