The impossible asking price of Shane Greene appears to have become possible, reports ESPN’s Buster Olney. The Braves and Tigers have come to an agreement for highly sought-after reliever Shane Greene.
Braves get Shane Greene, pending medicals

Greene has pitched a clean 1.38 ERA over 38 innings and 22 saves this season. The 30-year old will be taking home $4M this year from Detroit, a bargain that’s hard to be tempted by. But whether or not it’s sustainable is a risk multiple teams, and now officially the Braves, are willing to take.
The Dodgers and Nationals were also in hot pursuit of Greene. He’ll be arbitration eligible next year. The Braves were also linked to Pirates reliever Felipe Vazquez. Given all of the moves the Nationals (and to some extent the Phillies) have made, the National League East race looks like it is really heating up.
We’ll update this article as the trade details become available.
