With the 25th overall pick, the Braves have selected LHP Jared Shuster.

The junior out of Wake Forest University was just beginning to hit his stride this year before the season was unfortunately cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He began the year going 2-1 and 3.76 ERA in four starts. Across 26.1 innings he struck out 43 and only allowed four walks.

The southpaw has a dominate change up and a can’t miss windup. While he struggled in his first two seasons at wake Forest, wooden bat leagues significantly improved Shuster’s arsenol, including a fastball with new added velocity. What was previous hovering around 90-92, the Massachusetts native has now seen speeds topping 97MPH on his fastball. He struggles with command, but as he’s show a clear passion to develop and change, we could see his walk rate begin to drop as he develops with a program. Pair this kid with Tom Glavine and you’re golden as far as pitching depth in the minors.
